About
Paulette Traverso
The act of responding to the world around me, being inspired by objects, materials, and ideas, then making the connection between the eye, the hand, and the spirit to create is the basis of my art. Daily practice of immersing myself in drawing, gathering materials, working on pieces, contemplation, as well as reading is my sustenance, providing relief from global chaos and existential angst. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by found and discarded things. A life force can often be sensed in objects, ephemera, photographs, three-legged toys, decaying books. There is history, experience, and stories in them that I use for inspiration and then transformation. A kind of resuscitation through art. In concretizing my feelings and ideas into art, the viewer is drawn to examine what they see and perhaps come away themselves a bit transformed.
